Highlighting an Alumni Educator in Celebration of World Teachers' Day
At Teach For All, we're inspired every day by the thousands of teachers across our global network who are working to ensure every child in their classrooms has the education, support, and opportunity they need to thrive. Each year on October 5, World Teachers’ Day serves as a reminder to celebrate those teachers (and teachers everywhere) and let them know how much we value them and their tireless commitment to their students.
The video above, featuring Renkuosi Mokyti! (Teach For Lithuania) alumna Urtė Penkauskaitė, is illustrative of this year’s World Teachers’ Day theme, “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher." A French teacher at the Petras Vileišis primary school in Vilnius, Lithuania, Urte is passionate about supporting her students to take charge of their own education and focuses on strategies that help them learn independently. “You cannot change the world in one minute [or] five minutes, you need to start small," Urtė explains. "You can take one classroom and make an impact there.”
