Haruka is originally from Fukushima and developed his interest in the international community in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. As a member of the first cohort of the TOMODACHI Program and the 59th cohort of the AFS Program, he studied in Maryland, USA. As a scholarship recipient of the "Tobitate! Study Abroad JAPAN" program, he worked at the War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Since April 2020, he has been working in Fukuoka Prefecture as a Teach For Japan fellow, designing educational programs under the theme of "connecting the classroom with the world" for elementary, junior high, and high schools. Haruka is starting a business in March 2025 to launch an educational initiative supporting teenagers in studying abroad and participating in overseas internships.
