This workshop aims to take a step back from the entire school system as we know it, and to encourage a more imaginative approach for what school could be if we imagined a complete “start-again.” The world in which we live has changed beyond recognition, and with the introduction of AI, the possibilities are endless.
The format of this workshop will be two meetings, with a mini-project in between. Participants will gather feedback from individuals in their workplace on what is needed to prepare our learners for the future world.
The first workshop will focus on brainstorming our own ideas about school environments, curriculum, and the structure of the school day. In the second, we will explore attendees’ mini-projects and draw conclusions from our collective feedback.
Is this for me?
It’s for everyone! In fact, the more diverse the better. The first session will include three guest speakers as examples of the type of people who we can interview for the mini-project.
Workshop Objectives
To step outside of the current context and refocus our attention on what COULD be possible, awakening our ‘think-outside-the-box’ attitude and encouraging ourselves to be stimulated by possibility and not beleaguered by reality.
To highlight the voices of diverse stakeholders who bring different perspectives, and shine light on other priorities.
To bring the ideas created through this collaborative process back into our context and see where they could be implemented to the benefit of learners and educators.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:
- Use course content in their own context, e.g. for professional development or for a school project
- Have processes to change something in their own context, e.g. learning programs outside of school hours
- Have evidence of new ideas that are tried and tested in other contexts to apply to their own
