EiE Americas community

What is the Education in Emergencies in the Americas Community?

This community is for network teachers, alumni and staff in the Americas region, who are working in or are passionate about supporting children impacted by emergency situations. We define this as children who are refugees, internally displaced, living in conflict or post-conflict zones, or who are affected by other extreme circumstances such as natural disasters, climate change, etc.

Our community is focused on sharing resources and strategies to support crisis-affected students and teachers in the Americas region. We meet on regular virtual calls and have a WhatsApp group.

When was this community started?

This community was established in 2025, to specifically support those living and working in the Americas region, and the unique crises that this region navigates.

How do community members learn from and support each other?

The community connects via regular Zoom calls to share LATAM best practices, lessons learned and EiE resources.  During the calls, community members brainstorm ideas and challenges, and expert speakers are also invited to talk about specific topics.  The community can also exchange updates via the WhatsApp group.

What is the criteria for joining?

Admissions are open year-round, and the community is open to passionate LATAM professionals who want to learn how to more effectively support students affected by issues such as conflict, natural disasters, displacement, or other issues.
